How to Identify your Gebo Portlight
Share
The easiest way to identify your Gebo portlight is to look at the closing handles from inside the boat.
- Standard Series portlights have round knobs.
- Econoline Series portlights have levers (aka dogs).
Standard Series
Standard Series opening portlights use knobs to tighten the acrylic against the seal. You can see the knobs along the bottom of the portlights in the photos below.
Once you have identified the knobs, look at the shape of the frame. Standard Series portlights come in rectangular-ended, circular-ended and round versions.
Rectangular-ended portlights
These have straight sides and ends, with a rounded corner where they meet. The corners are rounded, even though we call this shape rectangular-ended.

Circular-ended portlights
These have straight top and bottom edges with a semicircle at each end. Look at the ends of the frame in the photo below to see the difference.

Round portlights
Round portlights have a fully circular frame. On an opening Standard Series portlight, the closing handles are knobs.

Econoline Series (discontinued)
Econoline portlights use levers, often called dogs, to hold the acrylic closed. The inside view in the photo below shows these handles.

The Econoline Series has been discontinued, but replacement parts are still available for some models.
